Film Journalism & Criticism: A Crash Course

Instructed by: Tre’vell Anderson

Who gets to write about the films, stories, and artists that matter to you? QTPOC writers are largely underrepresented at major outlets, and access to opportunity can be tough. Journalist and critic Tre’vell Anderson will guide you through the business of pitching to outlets, surviving the freelance game, while also advising you on the basics of writing style that’ll get your work noticed by the right outlets. Participants encouraged to bring in maximum 200-word capsule reviews or write-ups for possible feedback!

Tre’vell Anderson is an award-winning journalist, social curator, and world changer who always comes to slay! Formerly, the Director of Culture and Entertainment at Out magazine and a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, they have dedicated their career to centering those in the margins, grey spaces, and at the intersections of life through a pop culture lens.
