OUTFEST 2007 FILM COMPETITION
The following basic guidelines have been established:
Narrative Feature Films must be at least 70 minutes in length to be eligible for awards. Documentary Feature Films must be at least 50 minutes in length to be eligible for awards. Shorts are less than 50 minutes in length.
Films screening on Opening Night and Closing Night are NOT eligible.
Midnight Films are NOT eligible.
Films screening during the Platinum Section are NOT eligible for Jury Awards or Audience Awards but are eligible for Special Programming Awards.
The Awards Night Film and the Centerpiece Films are eligible.
Television series are NOT eligible; though movies made for television are eligible (except as noted below).
Films that have premiered on the Internet prior to screening at Outfest are NOT eligible.
Films that have had a local theatrical release or have premiered on US television or other domestic commercial ancillary (video, DVD release) prior to the start of the film festival are NOT eligible.
Feature films that have screened at a film festival in Los Angeles prior to screening at Outfest are NOT eligible.
Films screened at Outfest 2006 or prior Outfests are not eligible.
Films screened at Fusion 2006 are eligible.
Films completed more than two years before the festival are NOT eligible. In 2007, for example, films made in 2005 or later are eligible.
Films that premiere at 12:30 p.m. or earlier on the day of the Awards ARE eligible. Any films screened after 12:30 p.m. are NOT eligible. Repeat screenings that begin after 12:30 p.m. may not be balloted.
In addition to the aforementioned, there are additional rules for films eligible for the First Narrative Feature award:
· Movies Made for Television are NOT eligible for consideration in this category.
· The film must be English language.
