7/6/01: Award-winning KISSING JESSICA STEIN added to festival!

KISSING JESSICA STEIN
Dir: Charles Herman-Wurmfeld, 2001, USA, 35mm, 101 min.

Written by co-stars Heather Juergensen and Jennifer Westfeldt, KISSING JESSICA STEIN is an ultramodern romantic comedy - a fresh, laugh-out-loud look at the gray areas between friendship and romance. Jessica is a beautiful, straight, sensitive but neurotic New York journalist and closet painter whose most developed social skill is shooting a good thing down before ever giving it a chance. When she learns her baby brother is about to get married, she decides in a panic to take action to end her dating drought, only to experience a dating spree from hell. On a whim, she answers an intriguing personal ad placed by a woman art dealer. To Jessica's complete surprise, she bonds and clicks with beautiful Helen, and they instantly proceed to muddle through an earnest but hilarious relationship making up the rules as they go along. By the time her brother's wedding comes around, Jessica realizes she must choose to come out of more than one closet to find happiness.
